I am Tanja Brouwer. I live in Norg, a village west of the city of Assen. My household includes two Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever bitches called Laska Nired van de Echtinger Grift and her daughter Ayla Lasmo v. Obergums Hand. Also, since september 2009, a Britisch longhair cat Silas joined us Tanja (1969) graduated in ecology and law and is specialised in environmental, nature-protection and animal law. Since some time, she works from home, writing texts for magazines and owner of LexText, legal davice on enverionmental legislation. Also, she has her own company for fresh, frozen dog- and catfood (meat), wich she also runs from home. Spending more time at home meant having more time to keep pets and her childhood dream of owning a dog finally came true. During the last years she has specialised in canine studies. She also followed successfully several courses on dog behaviour and obedience. She co-authored Praktisch Dierenrecht, a book about the legal aspects of keeping pets and small live stock as well as exotic animals like snakes and parrots. She loves hiking, training her dogs and baking (and eating) cakes. About me Van Obergums Hand is a small kennel which only occasionally breeds a litter of pups. The name refers to where we lived, what used to be the village of Obergum. Our house was a former labourer's cottage and dates from 1870. The wooden roof-gutter on the front of the house ends in a carved hand, which symbolises the saying that all blessing is from above. This symbolic hand inspires us to breed Tollers with the greatest care. We attach great importance to breeding healthy dogs with typical Toller characteristics: cheerful, social and eager to work.
